Pumpkins. Meeting Sadie & Letting your light SHINE.

IMG_9511.JPG

After Several weeks of calling pumpkin patches and all the regular pumpkin places, we finally found someone that had some! Whew! We jumped on it as quick as we could too. One of our friends on facebook told us we could come to his hardware store and get some. He had literally just got a shipment in from one of the local farmers. We were super excited and rolled up in there on a mission. They took us to a back room and then out to their extra store. This is straight VIP pumpkin status y'all! hahaha! I would of taken the entire box if I could. The green and white ones were my favorite.

IMG_9501.JPG
IMG_9513.JPG

We got a ton of pumpkins and had the best time just being with each other! It doesn't take much for us to have a good time. This sweet thing batted her eyes at the hardware employees and next thing you know they were giving her all kinds of tootsie rolls and then popcorn. She has this talent. She will find food no matter where it is! Another crazy thing is... we will be at a random store or restaurant and people come up and say here, you are a cutie! Have a dollar! I wish people would walk up to me and hand me money! hahah! No joke! She has probably made $30 just in being cute! She has got it made and doesn't even know it! I am thankful that even though she is  a straight up diva, she is still very thankful and appreciative. She gives her dollars away to random people too. She pays it forward and it's super sweet.

IMG_9671.JPG

Okay, back to pumpkins! haha! We were really happy with our pumpkin haul and can't wait to get more. I stuffed them in our newly painted fireplace and mixed them with our "new" vintage books we got at our favorite antique store down the street. That store is our favorite but dang, we have to almost wear a mask in there because they stain a lot of their furniture and it stinks to high heaven. I kinda feel like I burn all my nose hairs when I leave so I don't take Harper often! We run in and out! She gets shipments in from London so we can usually find some pretty neat stuff. If you follow our insta stories you know all the crazy stuff we came across too! Hello creepy clown doll.

For everyone asking, these signs are really awesome and no, I am not just saying that. I am only going to share with you things I love and these are definitely amazing! I collaborated with Laney at @pine.and.birch and they are exclusively at @paintedfoxhome. You can find them in our home line here. They are on sale right now too.

IMG_9887.JPG

The day we met Sadie Mae.

I have been on a puppy hunt for several months now. Harper wanted a puppy or a baby sister for her birthday, so puppy it is! No joke! She has been begging for a sister like crazy too. It would definitely be divine intervention right now and there is no way she gets a baby for her bday! We went to shelters and searched online. Harper finally picked out a few types of dogs she liked. It was a lab, a golden retriever, a minature dog or labradoodle. I searched high and low. One of our sweet friends found a picture of Sadie and it said looking for a loving home! I was like OH MY GOSH! Harper will freak out. She just had the sweetest eyes. I thought about it for a while and finally messaged them and we loaded up the car, with no leash at all mind you and were hoping to fall in love with our new addition. There was a lot of crazy exciting emotions and singing going on in that car! We made it and Sadie was much bigger than the picture we saw. I said, "wow, I didn't know she was 9 months!" They told me she was 9 weeks! That's right, yall! Our little Sadie, is gonna be a giant Sadie! We fell in love with her and had to take her home that night. I had no idea what i was doing. Literally, rushed to the pet store nearby and handed them my card. She set us up with food, crate and toys! We raced back home and I carried in the heaviest crate by myself. It took over an hour to get that dang thing to pop open. It was a wild night but we were so happy to have Sadie with us. We wanted a loving family dog and also a guard dog. It gets scary out here sometimes and I think she will be all that and more.

NOW, that being said, this has been one of the happiest times of mine and Harper's lives but also a hard time as well.

I have had some really bad comments sent to me, one of which pretty much bashed me for anything and everything I was doing wrong, including judging my faith, life as a single mom and puppy decisions. I will not make much light of the horrible things they said or the few other awful messages because that will just shed more light on their hate. It really shook me to my core. Normally, I do not let things bother me like that but you guys, it was bad. It really bothered me. Those words made me question my life. It is hard y'all.

IMG_0632.JPG
IMG_0631.JPG

I try to be open and honest with you all as much as possible. I shouldn't have to validate myself here but I am a single mother. I wake up in the morning just like anyone else and pray and hope for the best. It is a struggle sometimes. There is a lot of work involved, working two jobs and also being a mama. I am doing the best I can just like anyone else. We are all struggling and trying to do the best for our family and ourselves. I would never want any of you to think I live this fake bright and shiny life all the time. I choose to be positive and change my perspective daily. Making people happy and inspiring others is everything to me. Sharing things that are beautiful makes my heart happy. I want you guys to embrace the beautiful parts of life and try your hardest to stay positive through the hard times.

Sometimes in life we run into adversity. It may come from events or other people, nevertheless we have to strive to be the best person we can be. We NEVER blow someone else's candle out to make our selves shine brighter. We don't point out (our perception) flaws of other people because to someone else that might be the most beautiful thing about them. I have struggled over the past few days with the way some of my followers have voiced their dislike and disapproval of me and my choices. I have contemplated over that for a few days now. It has been really hard. I have decided that I AM PROUD of what I have done from every mistake to every failure because i have the ability to humble myself in learning from them. I have also seen the look in my daughters eyes and witnessed her kindness toward others and decided that I will not allow bitterness in myself to tarnish that in her. So please be kind to one another. Tell someone they look beautiful today. Ask someone a random question that you know they know the answer, to lift them up because we are only able to control our actions and reactions. I will not let someone judge me and tear me apart. I have worked too hard to let someone try to take it away just because they don't like my choices. Let your light shine! Be the light. People will try to tear you down but push through anyways. People will try to be mean but be nice anyways. People will try to use you but love them anyways.

IMG_9706.JPG

If you can take anything away from this post, please take this:

You are beautiful. You are brave and smart. It doesn't matter what people say about me because I love myself and I am going to continue to let my light shine.

NO bully or anyone for that matter can stand in your way. You are meant to be something amazing. Let that fire in you continue to burn. Be creative. Think outside the box. Do the impossible but don't ever let someone tear you down. You may get sad, cry. You may fall down. Pick yourself back up and continue to follow your dreams. In the face of adversity, continue to shine.

Sending you all our love! Thank you everyone that watched our ig stories and sent an outpouring of messages. They were beautiful and I cried my eyes out reading them. The good outweighs the bad. I am thankful for my faith. I am thankful for you all.

BIG HUGS!

Love,

Sarah, Harper & Sadie

Mini Kitchen Remodel // Pottery Barn

Sarah Hollingshead2 Comments

A few simple changes can make a huge impact.

IMG_9195.JPG

I've been dreaming of freshening up the kitchen for a while now. I fell in love with my kitchen at first sight. I love the galley style kitchen and open shelving that originally came with the house when I bought it. The previous owners did a fantastic job designing it and the pinewood floors are everything! No farmhouse is complete without a large farmhouse sink! I wanted to freshen up the walls and make it bright in here because there isn't a lot of natural light, other than the two windows and then side door window. I also wanted to lower the shelves some and make them more user friendly! Although beautiful, shelves I had were not wide or thick enough.

IMG_2048.JPG

The Paint.

I went through some gorgeous paint colors from Pottery Barn and decided on the brightest clean color, Sherwin Williams Extra White. Sometimes it is hard to purchase paint online but I recommend zooming in on the color with your phone and holding it up to your wall like a swatch on the spot! It did match perfectly. The color was super clean and turned out better than I even imagined. Luckily, I had help from my friend Charlie Bryant with Bryant Construction! They helped paint and hang the floating shelves. We actually hung them together and they were very easy.

The Shelves.

The  shelves are even more beautiful in person! I mean, I knew they had texture but goodness, there is all kinds of juicy texture and different colored browns all wrapped into one. I like the chunky look and felt the length was perfect for my kitchen. I also think they would look pretty lined up from top to bottom on a wall in a dining room! The shelves are from Pottery Barn as well and super affordable. I got them here. The biggest thing I recommend is to have help hanging the shelves because they are a little heavy and you wouldn't want to risk dropping them and scratching your walls! Once you screw the long bracket in, you lift the shelf up and push it down flush to the wall and it clasps from there. Pretty genius! I have tested out the durability and it is super durable! I am talking these dishes are really heavy and it didn't even budge!

The Decor.

This part is my favorite. Think first, what do you want most from your kitchen? For me, I want to be able to utilize this space as much as possible! I used the long shelving so I can stack different plates, cups, plants, and almost anything else i can imagine! I want to have a nice space for my coffee area and then another for my go to dishes above the oven. After styling them, I started decorating the left over space on the shelves and build from there! The best way to get a fresh look is to add rustic vases like these and then fill them with your favorite flowers. I love all the different vase heights. It just flows effortlessly through the room. I plan on using them all the all year round. The cutting boards are great to add throughout so you can use them quickly for all your yummy recipes. These trays are awesome! They add height like the vases and you can put hand soap on them, all the way to candles. I placed the napkins on the shelves and left some out on the counter too. They are super durable and I use them for more than just napkins. I have used them to dry dishes with too and they work great. They are pretty even just stacked on your shelf.

I am so happy with how everything turned out. The color turned out perfectly and the shelves are fabulous! This proves that paint and some lovely shelves can truly transform any room! It is a lot brighter in here now! We painted the cabinets with the same paint on the walls. This made the countertop really pop! I have already spilled spaghetti on one of the cabinets and didn't know until the next day. It freaked me out. I used soap and water and it came off instantly! Yass! Let me know if you have any questions. I hope you all love everything. It's been hard keeping it quiet this long!

The best part is that anyone could win this gorgeous home! You can apply to win twice a day! This gorgeous craftsman cottage is located in the 4th and Gill area of downtown Knoxville, TN! Check out these few before pictures!

This house has went from drab to fab and I am kinda loving every square inch. Ok...I am loving ALL of it!! Brian Patrick Flynn and the HGTV Crew did a fantastic job. Speechless is an understatement. The blue is fabulous. Everyone has been blowing up my inbox on the details of the blue and pink door, so here it is...

Sherwin Williams Sea Serpent and the INFAMOUS pink door is Sherwin Williams Hopeful. The trim is Sherwin Williams Incredible White.

Almost everything furnished in the home is by Overstock.com.

The pink door is a millennial pink! Brian talked about how he looks at the most pinned pins on Pinterest and what the most popular trends are! He wanted the house to stand out! I think the contrast is fabulous! I want a pink door now!! We should all get pink doors ;)!

Cue take my breath awayyyy by Berlin!! This front porch is everything!

IMG_8454.JPG

Hello gorgeous front porch! You know how much I love blush + blue, so I was pretty much in Heaven the entire time!! Speaking of Heaven, did you get to see the live tour on my IG with Brian? That was awesome! I wish it would of let me save it but it was over 30 minutes long. He is mega talented and has the best personality! HGTV, if you can hear me... give this man his own show! ;)

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Living Room.jpg

Paint Colors: Sherwin Williams - walls Swanky Grey, trim Incredible White

I love the open floor plan and the overall fill of the living room. I love the mix of classic and modern! Bryan talked about how much he dislikes the television hanging in the living room because it takes away from the overall aesthetic. He also wants it to be an open space where guests can just chat and spend time together. The beautiful abstract painting by Sally King Benedict is perfectly placed when you walk into this cozy space!

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Master Bedroom.jpg

Paint Color: Sherwin Williams - trim doors Tricorn Black, walls and ceiling Incredible White

Hello gorgeous master bedroom! I never would of thought to use blush curtains! The curtains and closet really make the room. When you look inside the closet, you'll find wall to wall custom floral wallpaper! I hope you got to see it on the live video. He picked out beautiful accents that just flowed together, some new pieces and some antique. Brian made sure to add all different elements and even added a pair of vintage gloves to give off an Audrey Hepburn vibe!!

IMG_8517.JPG
HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Master Bathroom.jpg

Paint Color: Sherwin Williams - trim and ceiling Incredible White, Benjamin Moore - vanity Universal Black

I like to call this a honeycomb wall and it's fantastic! They made sure to tile it all the way to the ceiling. I love how open it is. There are windows added at the top for extra lighting.

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Master Bathroom with Shower.jpg

Brian said if you are going to use bold wallpaper or bold colors put it in a smaller room you don't spend a lot of time in for the most impact. Genius!! This custom wallpaper is so feminine and yet the tile brings a masculine side out as well. It is a healthy balance where anyone could live here and just be happy as can be.

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Master Bathroom with Tub.jpg

I don't think I would ever leave the tub!!

You can tell there was a lot of thought put into this entire house, every single detail was well thought out.

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Kitchen.jpg

Paint Colors: Benjamin Moore - cabinets Van Deusen Blue, Behr - ceiling Frost, trim color match to wall tile.

This kitchen is what dreams are made of! Those chandeliers alone were just phenomenal! Bananas!

He left the exposed brick as a focal point and painted it a nice whitewash. The baskets add some beautiful texture and highlight that accent brick wall. I would never think of going this blue in the kitchen but after seeing it, it's a total game changer! The blue is beautiful and timeless. I could see it in a farmhouse too!

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Kitchen Into Dining Room.jpg

See the small vintage plates on the sides? Yes, he thought of everything!!

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Dining Room.jpg

Paint Colors: walls Swanky Gray, trim Incredible White.

Brian talked about how he chose a round table so you could pull extra chairs around it for added seating if needed. That is such a smart idea. The blue chairs were so beautiful! See how the blue flows throughout?!

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Hallway Toward Front.jpg

Paint Colors: Sherwin Williams - ceiling Krypton

The open hallway is lovely. I love how the bench sits perfectly at the end! It's so airy and free. All that white!

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Laundry Room.jpg

The walkthrough laundry room is such a nice touch.

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Guest Bedroom.jpg

Paint Colors: Sherwin Williams - trim and doors Grey Matters, walls, ceiling and closet interior Passive.

The guest room is super inviting. He framed a duvet that was too small for this bed on the wall to the left!

How awesome is that?! Such a great idea!!

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Guest Bathroom.jpg

Paint Colors: Sherwin Williams - walls Composed, vanity Raging Sea

OKAYYY this bathroom is amazing! Do you all see over to the right? That is a sliding "barn door" shower and it is gold!! I went to the bathroom and may have slid it back and forth a few times hoping I wouldn't get caught! Haha!

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Bunk Room Desk and Shelf.jpg

Paint Color: Sherwin Williams - Incredible White

This second guest room is just perfect for an office and extra space for guests. I love the built in bunk beds!

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Screened Porch.jpg

This house had an apartment on the back which is now this gorgeous screened in porch! The furniture he chose is such a great mix and he hung a flat screen tv to the right. The natural elements of the table and wood furnishings and trees are my favorite.

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Garage Toward House.jpg

That landscaping though! These hanging orange kayaks really bring a beautiful contrast! Look how big the house looks from the back! If you look close you can see the hanging pendants at the bottom over the outdoor dining table.

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Garage and Fire Pit.jpg

The garage was insane! I love this extra living room. Imagine all the parties you can have out here! The gallery wall wrapped around the entire space!

IMG_8679.JPG
IMG_8599.JPG

This really happened!! Brian is such an awesome person and designer!! I learned so much from him. It was such a great experience that I will never forget it! I was major fangirling at this moment!

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Garage with Door Closed.jpg

Lord have mercy! The garage door is stunning and look at the lights!

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Lower Patio.jpg

Literally swooning with this fabulous table and metal chairs!!

HGTV Urban Oasis 2017 - Art Studio.jpg

If you love color, this art studio is perfect for you! What a creative oasis!!  added art studio connected to the garage is a nice touch and super creative space.

Whoever wins this house is just gonna love it!

This Is My Happy Place // Hilton Head // Sonesta Resort HHI

Sarah Hollingshead4 Comments

The beach is my happy place. I am always game for waking up with no worries, rushing out to the sand and watch the waves come in or swimming backstrokes in a gorgeous pool gazing up at the palm trees. We were pretty excited to visit Hilton Head again this summer and make some great memories together. We stayed at Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island and it was pretty incredible.

A while back I posted on Instagram about surprising Harper with a trip to the beach. I loaded up the car full of our suitcases, favorite snacks, beach chairs and lots of sunscreen. She had no idea. We drove home like usual and then I surprised her! Harp was excited!! It took her a while to process that we were actually leaving at that moment. She kept saying, "but I need my bathing suit" haha! We had that and about everything else in the house packed and ready to GO! After driving 6 hours, we made it. Stepped foot out of the car to one gorgeous hotel!

IMG_8023.JPG

When we got to the room there were two large beach bags full of the cutest gifts. Homemade chocolates shaped like alligators & flip flops. We got hot pink & bright blue towels with lots of cookies and sand toys. That was pretty amazing. Not to mention a huge fruit and cheese tray! We went straight for that and the cookies and milk. So let the adventure begin, with feeding our faces. The room was beautiful and we loved having two queen beds. Harp would bounce back and forth, wishing she could sleep in both at the same time haha!! The bathroom was insane, with a large tub and glass shower! It was a little piece of heaven!!

The way to my heart is foooood! We are big foodies but can appreciate good junk food when we see it too!

The breakfast at the hotel was amazing. We ate a lot at Hewards Restaurant and Seacrest Restaurant inside the hotel. I am talking they had a smorgasbord of build your own homemade waffles, omlettes, bagels (insert heart eyes), an entire fruit bar and so much more! Harper looked forward to decorating her waffles every morning. I think her favorite was the a tower of whip cream and a single chocolate chip on top. I loved the bagels and omelettes. Bailey's Bar & Terrace is really cool too. It transforms throughout the day and is recognized as the heart of the hotel. You can get a quick morning coffee, treats and then cocktails in the evening!

Some of our favorite restaurants in Hilton Head...

Salty Dog Cafe, Skull Creek Boathouse, The Crazy Crab, Sunset Grille

IMG_8066.JPG

There was always something fun going on at the hotel! So much in fact, that we weren't able to do everything. Here are some of the fun things we got into...

getting our nails done at the spa! Arum Spa is gorgeous! They are upstairs in the hotel room and it's like a little oasis. It is calming and the music almost put me to sleep walking in! I can't even imagine with a massage too! We loved getting our nails done together. That is one of our favorite things to do together, aside from painting pictures. We got mani's & pedi's! Harper was so proud of her blue nails and wanted to show everyone!

IMG_8051.JPG
IMG_8050.JPG

feeding the turtles! shut the front door! We got to feed a ton of turtles. There were a lot of children around, so I didn't get a good picture of the turtles but they were everywhere. It was a lot of fun. Literally, you just walk out of the hotel to the large pond and just start feeding them.

IMG_8049.JPG
IMG_8045.JPG

playing at the kids zone! So they have a kid's area called Just Us Kids! It's a program where they can watch your children if you want to go on a date, or just let them have play time and go on beach adventures. Harper loved doing crafts with all the kids and spending some time out on the beach together. The teachers were super sweet and really outgoing. It was a great experience for her! She still talks about her teachers (and the turtles!)

I love how the resort was super kid friendly, with dive in movies at the pool, turtles and they even had a place set up for kids to get floats and anything else you might need.

buying a bunch of jewelry at the gift shop! Harper picked out a ton of handmade layered bracelets. She loved them and stacked them all up her arm! My little diva. The gift shop is called Pearl's Market and it is super cute, full of breezy apparel, outdoor and sport accessories. They have a lot of island inspired gifts, toys, gourmet foods and snacks. They can even pack up goodies and send them right to your room! I love love that idea!!

The beach was perfect! We had the best weather and enjoyed just being together. Harper found so many seashells and looked forward to the times I said yes to snow cones. No joke, that girl could live off of them. It was pretty funny how her entire mouth was purple most of the day! The staff were super nice and the hotel was immaculate. They kept it really clean. There's nothing like taking a hot shower after a long day at the beach and passing out in the softest fresh sheets! ahhh music to my ears. We practiced not doing anything. It was hard at first but after day two we were pros! We still think about all the awesome memories had here! It was such a blessing and we look forward to visiting again soon.

Thank you for stopping by friends! Leave a comment of your fav memory at Hilton Head Island if you've visited before!!

XOXO,

Sarah

Thank you to Sonesta Hilton Head Island for being so good to us. We will hopefully make it in the November to see all your Christmas trees!

Harper thinks this is her second bedroom now because it's right down the hall from her room! I meannnn. She loves it!! We come in here and read books together. I can't wait to have friends and family over now! They don't have to sleep in our pull out beds anymore!

This Versailles bed is fantastic. I was floored with the craftsmanship and the details are just beautiful. I got it here. It's a major statement piece and the fabric is pretty. I got the bedding from Anthropologie and the purse is Free People.

Our First Trip to California // Coronado California

Sarah Hollingshead2 Comments

Well hey there!! It's been a while since I wrote you all last and believe me, we have been busy. There is so much going on and I can't wait to share it all with you soon. I have several clients right now and am trying to get their homes done and hope to share that soon too! One thing I have been SUPER excited to share is our trip to California!! I have always dreamed about seeing California some day and can't believe it finally happened!

IMG_3258.JPG

Cali is more beautiful than I ever imagined.  Harper and I were pretty speechless getting off the plane. It was stunning. Palm trees lined the streets and there were huge flowers everywhere. We spent the majority of our time in Coronado Island, outside of San Diego. There is a lot to do there and it was easier for us girls to just hang on the island!

Our ROOM at LOEWS

IMG_3247.JPG

We stayed at Loews Coronado Bay Resort! You guys, this place was unreal. The employees were incredibly kind and helpful and the Resort was super clean. Honestly, you could not ask for a nicer staff. There was a huge conference going on but the place was so roomy you didn't even notice! We never got tired of the food, which is extremely rare. Usually we go to hotels and the food all tastes the same after a while. Our view was of the beautiful Bay that fills up with boats at night and we even got a fireworks show!

What I loved most about Loews was how accommodating they were to children and had all kinds of events to keep them having fun! There were s'more nights, game days and treasure hunts! Another thing we loved were the large golf carts that take you to the beach! When you arrive there are chairs, sand toys and umbrellas! That was huge considering we didn't have to worry about anything but sunscreen and our beach bag! They also have so many pools and hot tubs to choose from!! I am talking, THREE large pools and TWO large hot tubs. They have a big outside bar and all kinds of yummy food!

IMG_0981.JPG
IMG_0991.JPG

Speaking of yummy food! These chocolate desert tacos were unreal! They delivered them to our room and we were in heaven! I need the recipe stat!

IMG_3256.JPG

Somebody even got cookies and milk in bed! She was pretty happy about that.

We spent a lot of time at the pool. Look how beautiful it is there...

Our favorite part was riding the hotel shuttle to Coronado Island downtown. Harper was just giddy to get to ride the shuttle! That is all she talked about! haha! Coronado Island is GORGEOUS! The houses were insanely beautiful and the beach was just stunning. We watched every sunset together and just took it all in. You have to go to Del Coronado Hotel and just shop it up and feed your face too!

Brigantine Seafood Restaurant (Blackened Sonoran Spiced Ahi Sashimi & Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes)

Crown Landing (inside Loews Resort, brunch anything & Pan Roasted Salmon, pizza by the pool is a must and their bakery is unreal)

Bluewater Boathouse Seafood Grill (Rock Lobster Tail)

Yummy Sushi (Sunset Roll)

ENO Pizzeria & Wine Bar (Margherita Pizza)

MOO TIME Creamery (chocolate covered anything, we tried it a few times and it was amazing!)

We are already making plans to come back in December. Locals were telling us how they decorate everything on the island for Christmas and have an epic ice skating rink near downtown! We are going to have to see that. This was an amazing experience and took us out of our comfort zone but in a good way. Harper still talks about it and wants to go back. You really must see it for yourself!

Back Porch Decorating // Crate & Barrel

Sarah Hollingshead1 Comment

Hey friends! I have missed you! As many of you know... we DECORATED our back porch and we had the BEST time doing it!

We partnered with Crate and Barrel to share our porch with you guys and it was hard to keep this one quiet! I've been super excited about it for a while and definitely have a hard time keeping secrets. Harper actually sat with me and helped pick out some of her favorite pieces too!

(all pictures are by RICH POTOGRAPHY <3 more on that below...)

I know it's hard to believe we decorated our porch, considering we have been here well over a year. I think it's mainly because we have been working on the inside the most.

Let's talk about the furniture we chose! There are so many incredible pieces and looks in Crate and Barrel’s outdoor line. I wanted something light, so I can easily move it around as needed. I love these Regatta Lounge Chairs and Ottomans so much that I jumped out of my comfort zone with the stripes. The pattern screams summer fun, and I am here for the party!

When I bought this farmhouse, it came with speakers installed on the back porch, so it's a perfect place for a dance off and just hanging out together! Music is a must!

We also added the Salome Charcoal Grey Indoor/Outdoor Rug, which has a soft, braided texture that is all together beautiful. Durability is key here, because you want a nice sturdy outdoor rug (a.k.a. not flopping with the wind)! It ties everything together nicely.

These gorgeous Lattice Circle Large Side Tables are the perfect home for your favorite flower pot. The tables are super light and versatile, easy for moving around and perfect for a space of any size. Add your favorite book and a cup of coffee, and you are set! After all, you can’t go wrong with white coffee cups and saucers paired with fun outdoor plates and patterns. The silverware is one of our favorites and we use them all the time, called Harper Rose Gold Flatware

We love this gorgeous view of the countryside! That tree on the hill is our favorite!

If you are looking for a fun way to add more seating that is affordable, you can throw some larger pillows on the floor. They are super inviting.

You guys, this teepee from Land of Nod looks like it was made for our back porch! It’s so fun and surprisingly really easy to put together! Harper loves bringing all her animals inside and reading them books! I can just see her playing in it with her sweet little friends.

One of the things I love is that the teepee floor cushion is amazingly soft and firm. It’s a total game changer! I never realized how much a cushion would make a difference.

(This is pretty much us all the time. I am either laughing at her or she is laughing at me.)

Our shoes are from Joy Folie, one of our favorite clothing & shoe brands. 🌸

And how adorable is this Larry The Llama Ride On?! I can’t even deal. Wish it was adult sized! Harp has had so much fun with it. Now I know for sure what I am gifting all my friends with babies.

We had so much fun spending time together enjoying our yummy brunch and just being together.  She is such a blessing in my life.

If your day on the porch stretches into the night, light up your summer gatherings with lanterns and candles. You can't go wrong with string lights!!

We hope you enjoyed all the pictures and have the best time making memories, decorating your sweet porch!

We hope you enjoyed all the pictures and have the best time making memories, decorating your sweet porch!

BIG Thank you to Emily with Rich Photography! She took all these incredible pictures! Not only is Emily a photographer but also a jewelry designer. All of her jewelry is handmade and truly beautiful! You can see it all here. Her jewelry is called Emily Anne Accessories I am blessed to know her and work with her often!

BIG thank you to Crate & Barrel for partnering with us once again. They are an incredible brand that we love and believe in. It's always an honor.

Thank you for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read this post. Your support means so much to us! I am fortunate to be doing what I love and without you, this wouldn't be possible. Have fun decorating your porch and have a great rest of the day too!

XOXO,

Sarah & Harper

Spring Entryway // Birch Lane // Spring Refresh Tour

Sarah Hollingshead4 Comments
IMG_5232.JPG

Spring is almost here! You can totally feel it. When spring is around the corner, I start freshening up the house with white bedding and lightweight throws, fresh plants and more plants! I partnered with Birch Lane today and four amazing bloggers to share different ways to refresh your home for Spring!

IMG_5217.JPG

If you haven't already seen Ashley with Cherished Bliss, make sure to check out her Birch Lane Refresh post...along with... Randi with Randi Garrett Design  , Jennifer with Decor Gold   and Julie with  Lemon Stripes

IMG_5226.JPG

It's super easy to achieve this fresh spring entryway! I chose many of these pieces from Birch Lane's New Arrivals, using Classic Farmhouse and Country Romance.

1. Start with your favorite bench. I picked this one, called the Beresford Bench and it was easy to assemble. Not to mention affordable and durable! Imagine my toddler jumping up and down on it until I caught her! Because it totally happened! haha!

2. Add your favorite baskets. I picked the two larger baskets called handle storage baskets but could have fully fit all three below for storage. I love how the baskets add so much texture and have durable handles. Then I threw in some driftwood and logs for more textured elements. It is so fun to bring nature inside. I bought some various size pots and gave it a layered look. I showed a couple looks, one with pillows stuffed and the other with my favorite plant inside it. I love the plant best but both looks are very clean. Just go for your gut feeling on this one. I wanted a fiddle fig plant but there were not any at our local greenhouse.

4.  Pick out a throw or two! This throw is nice and bright and really pulls all the colors together. It is also organic, which I love! If you pick two throws you can layer them softly over each other, where you can still see the other one behind it. Layering is a good thing! ; ) You never know how many guests might want to hang around and talk and they might be chilly.

5. Add your favorite pillows! I bought laila gathered white pillows  which have beautiful tufting along the middle and give a tailored look, the large edie wool pillow cover is my focal point and lastly the dream lumbar pillows! They are my showstopper pillows which compliment all of them. Super soft!! Love love!

6. Throw in your favorite large planter! This one is a lot larger than it looks in the picture. It's called the Estrada Planter and just beautiful. That wood grain gives me all the feels and has a vintage vibe, which to me screams farmhouse! Add your favorite plant inside. I was able to throw in a pot inside it and it was ready to go.

7. Add your favorite art above your bench. I found these pretty large tins squares from an antique store when we went to Charleston. A painting would be dreamy or a set of vintage windows! The possibilities are endless. You could even go all the way in and do a fun gallery wall!

IMG_5227.JPG

See how easy that is?! When in doubt, throw some pillows on it! I mean really, throw them even on the floor nearby for guests. We are all about comfort around here at the farmhouse.

Keep it fun and cozy. Don't stress. Freshening up your home is easy.

FullSizeRender.jpg

This look shows the lumbar pillows on the end for added comfort. You could toss the striped pillow underneath and put the white pillows in the corner with the lumbar in front of it on each side at an angle.

IMG_5233.JPG
IMG_5235.JPG

This bench is very sturdy and beautifully designed. Every home needs a nice bench! I just need to add a fun rug!

P.s. Told you that wood grain is so good on the planter! #allthehearteyes

There you have it friends, a fresh spring entryway! I hope your weekend is beautiful!

Sarah Hollingshead2 Comments
You guys, we are SO ready for the Big Game this weekend, mostly because of the FOOD and halftime show!  Here is the ultimate nacho table with a lot of trimmings! We used a lot of Garden Fresh Gourmet Foods.  Garden Fresh Gourmet Chips, salsas, hummus dips and paired it with our favorite cheeses, meats and veggies! One of the many reasons I love Garden Gourmet is because they are natural,  Non GMO and super fresh. We added our favorite cheese dip and taco meat with the spread!

You know how much we love parties and we are excited to share some of our favorite game day tips!

TIPS:

Bring on the fun football plates and bowls!

Throw in some footballs and fun napkins!

Don't be afraid to have a chalkboard out with your favorite team written all over it!  (I would of done that but it would just say go food ;))

When in doubt, finger foods are the best foods! Always!

I like to keep a lot of the drinks and desserts in the kitchen so there is more room for all the snacks in the living room. AKA less mess in the living room.

Add your favorite pillows and throws! You want it to be super comfy and fun!!

Throw extra pillows on the floor for added seating. criss cross apple sauce!

Keep the kids busy with football crafts for the kids in the other room. I recommend pipe cleaner shaped footballs or paper and crayons projects! You don't want to walk in there and it be a train wreck of glued footballs all over your dining room. (Believe me, this actually happened but at a baby shower and with diapers)

Some great finger friendly desserts are football shaped brownies, chocolate strawberries with white laced stripes and cookies! Lots of cookies!

Sangria is always a great game drink! Make sure to have several nonalcoholic drinks too, remember your drivers!

P.s. Keep extra hand towels in the bathroom for guests!

I hope you all have the best time tomorrow!

GO GAME!! GO HALFTIME!!

My Story // Our Vintage Farmhouse

Sarah Hollingshead92 Comments

Life is about taking chances and really following your dreams.

It's easy for someone to say, "Take chances! Follow your dreams!" The hard part is YOU are the one that has to take those chances and YOU have to follow your dreams! It truly is easier said than done! I am not going to sugar coat it for you! I know, I am bubbly, happy and hyper but I am still real. I hope you read this and take something away from this that inspires you and moves you to follow your own dreams.

I have never felt more alive than when I started following my dreams. Honestly, it wasn't my choice. I was forced into a fight or flight situation. When you lose almost everything and hit bottom, there is no where to go but up!

Here is my story (I'll give you the shortened version to save you days of reading):

I have been divorced for two years now. Prior to my divorce, I was living happily in Franklin,TN as a stay at home mom. At that time, I had around 10,000 followers on Instagram, that I had grown organically. I was my first follower and just started marketing myself by sharing my family, my art and farmhouse furniture. I had to teach myself everything and, after a while, realized I might be onto something. However, my life kind of flashed before my eyes when I found out I was getting a divorce. I felt like my life was destroyed at that time. The word "divorce" never crossed my mind, ever, but it was happening.

FullSizeRender.jpg
FullSizeRender.jpg

Jobless.

I had no idea what I was going to do. I was a mother and I was jobless. Thankfully I had a degree in Communication Studies that I earned several years back. I was truly devastated and cried for weeks. There was no way around it, the more I cried, the more I knew I was going to have to make a choice.

THIS is where the chance happened. There I was, out there on Instagram, everyone saw my family pictures and how I tried to post inspiring quotes to uplift others and follow their dreams. At one point I was going to delete it all. It was just so embarrassing and painful. Weeks went by and I decided Forget that!! I am going to push on. I worked so hard and I was not going to give up on myself or Harper, or the connections I have made. Instead, I was going to show my baby girl to BELIEVE in herself and FOLLOW her dreams!! I was going to make my daughter proud!!

Family.

I decided to move back home with Harper so that I could be with my family. I stayed up for days packing up all our things by myself, waiting for my brothers to arrive. The large moving truck sat there in my driveway, while I loaded every memory that we had. Fortunately, the house sold quickly and I was able to have some money from that. I recieved child support and a few months of alimony (for those single moms asking). I had no idea what kind of job I was going to have, what my life would look like, if I would ever love again and how I would turn it around. There were just so many variables that I needed to be surrounded by family. We moved back to my parents house in a beautiful small town in the country. I honestly didn't know what home was anymore but knew I needed to make one for H and I. My parents did not live there because my Mother is a Presbyterian Minister and served a church in Virginia at the time. My youngest brother lived upstairs, my oldest brother lived right beside us and my middle brother lived a mile away. They supported me unlike anyone else ever could. They helped care for us while I was a mess of sadness. Meanwhile, weeks went by...

IMG_3636.JPG
IMG_3645.JPG
IMG_2367.JPG

This was the real moment! Fight or flight!

I knew I was going to keep my IG but how could I go on? What is my story now? What will it look like? What can I do to give Harper a better life? A life where she believed in a strong Mother that never gave up. I was bawling one night and holding Harper tight, I asked God to please help me. All I have is my faith and my baby girl, but that was all I needed! That night, I promised God and Harper I was going to turn this around. She just turned two and had no idea what I was saying lol!! Still I knew I was NOT going sit around anymore and feel sorry for myself. I started coming up with a plan and putting my goals on paper. I applied for several jobs and three months later I started working at a graphic design studio and then received a job offer as a Communications Coordinator for a utilities company. Meanwhile, I was messaging companies to work with on IG and staging products in my bedroom, which was full of boxes not shown in the pictures. This is what kept me going. I worked hard all the time and still tried my best to keep Harper first! I made sure every day we did something fun because I wanted to make up for all the lost time where I had to work all day. I also wanted to make her feel special and loved. Although I do want to say, she has a Father that loves her very much, too.

One of my goals is giving Harper the best life possible, full of love, kindness and happiness.  Placing my baby in daycare was the hardest. I kept sharing pictures of her standing on the front porch and her out in the country. She had no idea her life had changed. Now, I realize it was such a special time because even though I was in pain, Harper and I created a beautiful bond. A bond between a mother & daughter and now, best friends. It was this love I can never explain and I now have hope for the future.

Companies started pouring in and I received my first paying job. I was blown away! Thank you God! I was working with some mobile app companies here and there, which I was grateful for. Then I received a message back from Crate & Barrel! My dreams had came true!! I was honored. They asked me to do a blog post for them and share their products. Honestly, they are an incredible company and helped us in more ways than one. I appreciate them all SO much and to this day, I still can't believe I work with them. My following continued to grow. At this point I had around 40,000 followers or so. My new job was going very well and Harper seemed happy as ever. I told everyone on IG once I moved that I was a single mom. October 24th 2014, I wrote an IG post about how things don't always go as planned but you are sometimes given another chance for a new beginning. Suddenly people realized I was divorced and I feared people would judge me. To my surprise, they still supported us! Single mom messages came pouring in and we were receiving SO much love and support. Everyone told us how they are praying for us. It was truly the most beautiful thing. God turned my worst nightmare into something beautiful. I continued to work with several companies and one day Country Living asked me to take over their Instagram!! I have always loved them and was thrilled to work with them. Still continuing to share and put myself out there, opportunities continued to surface themselves.

By this time, I had spent a substantial amount of the house settlement from my divorce on living expenses but I was able to begin saving to buy a home. I saved an extra $4000 to put towards a house. I had always dreamed of living in the country someday, barefoot and chasing babies around my farmhouse. Even though I had no idea what I was doing, I started looking for houses. I had my heart set on a house near my parents but it fell through. One day I was driving down the road and saw this gorgeous farmhouse for sale. I was speechless. I was like, dear LORD! This has our name all over it! We scheduled a time to go see it and almost everyone thought I was crazy to buy a farmhouse as a single mom! They tried to talk me out of it, including my family. I know they were looking out for our best interests but sometimes you HAVE to take chances!! We walked in and my best friend Crystal was holding Harper. My jaw hit the floor. Once we set foot in the back door I knew instantly, it was made for us and we had to buy it!  I put an offer in and it fell through. Still I held on tight to the belief it would be ours! Somewhere deep inside, I knew it would work out. Three months later or so, we heard back from the owners and they were interested in making a deal! I signed all the papers on my own, with my oldest brother by my side and cried once I had the keys!

THANK YOU God!

We bought a farmhouse! God answered our prayers. I believe it happened through faith, hard work, setting goals and never giving up. Harper was my driving force! I actually have a furniture line now with White Shanty Design (they are so amazing) and get to work with so many incredible companies. I continue to take chances. Through all of this, I refuse to give up on love. I have always tried to be a loving and positive person. Recently, I met someone amazing. Even though, it's been a couple of months, I feel hopeful for our future. I am grateful to have met such a kind hearted and loving person. He is wonderful and shows Harper so much love, it's truly beautiful.

So here is my message for you:

Don't give up on love and don't settle. Get up, put your big girl panties on and do your very best each and every day. Push hard and keep your head up, SURROUND yourself with loving, positive people. With hard work and a dream, you can do anything. Even if you feel no one believes in you, hold tight to your dreams. Always remember, sometimes when things are falling apart they may actually be falling into place.

I just want to say thank you to my family and all my wonderful friends that stuck by my side this entire time. I love you all. Thank you to each and everyone of you that follows and believes in us. We love you all too. Thank you to all the companies that gave us a chance. We are honored and forever grateful.

Love always,

Sarah

Hey friends!

It's so hard to believe that today is December 20th and Christmas is in just a few days! We are beyond excited over here! Harper hasn't stopped talking about Santa and hoping to see him the night before Christmas. I really do love this time of year and am going to miss all the Christmas decorations. We have family coming in soon and wanted to get the house ready!

This is our Master Bathroom! We haven't actually shared it with you all yet! I know, hard to believe ;).

I absolutely loved partnering with Serena & Lily on giving our bathroom a makeover. They have so many incredible timeless pieces!!

The French Tassel Shower Curtain is everything. I love the tassels and how it adds texture and a pop of navy!

IMG_1830.JPG

The rug is super soft and easy to throw in the wash!

A fun hand towel adds character and the stripes are so clean and pretty.

Let's talk about this beautiful handmade Solid La Jolla Basket. It's one of a kind and no two baskets are the same!!

I love how you can throw ANYTHING in there and hide it. We all have extra towels, coats, toys, you name it! This is THE hiding spot, my favorite hiding spot. As of right now, it is stuffed with towels. I loved the baskets so much, I am going to get some for a few other rooms too.

The towels are super soft and large! Honestly, I love fresh crisp towels! The braided pattern is so beautiful. I totally approve of all things Serena & Lily! Their products are amazing and extremely durable.

I am hoping to rennovate this bathroom down the road and add either a clawfoot tub or walk in shower and push the wall out further for more room. We also have a half bath upstairs that I am sharing soon.

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!!

Christmas Came Early // Our Living Room // Jonathan Louis Furniture

IMG_1624.JPG

Christmas came early at our house this year! We have been waiting for this day all year actually! Our living room is complete! Honestly, we couldn't be happier with the Jonathan Louis pieces we picked out. After ordering a settee from them back in January, I knew I had to get another piece. The quality, style and durability is amazing. My settee is white and velvet fabric and I love it so much. We almost went with white velvet in the living room but last minute I decided on the linen and flax fabric to bring some natural cream elements in with our wood grain coffee table. (you can see the different swatches they have to choose from here... swatches) I think I might throw in some velvet poufs later down the road. We went with the Calista One-Arm Chaise in Sensu Flax and a set of the Glendora Accent Chairs in Belfast Linen.

IMG_1537.JPG

We are so happy with our choices. Harper actually helped me pick it out. The colors are perfect and the fabric is just beautiful. I was suprised how large the Chaise really was. It fits perfectly and breaks up the room well. We have already been cuddling up reading stories together on it and Harper loves to line a ton of her animals on it and just go to sleep! Jonathan Louis offers stylish yet durable pieces. They really are perfect for any home décor. It's a great time to add new pieces to your home, just in time for the holidays!

IMG_1626.JPG

The Glendora Accent Chairs are gorgeous too. They fit just right side by side in here. I love their shape. It's so beautiful and welcoming. The texture in the fabric really makes it pop. We can't make up our mind which new piece is our favorite because we love it all so much that we just sit all over the place! Haha! No joke, we are so happy to have our living room fully furnished and it's what I always dreamed. For over 11 months we walked through this large living room and dreamed of entertaining and just gathering together. This is truly what we dreamed of. I'm so happy and thankful!!

I knew I had to have some more of Jonathan Louis pieces and I'm so happy with what we purchased.

We had a party last week and the house was filled with family and friends. It was such a great night! Everyone loved our new furniture. We actually have a family room and a living room. Everyone spent more time here in the living room than any other and that has never happened before! Ah! I loved it.

By the way, I have to tell you that I spilled white wine on the chase myself and thought I was gonna freak out!! It came right out with a little soap and water. Thank goodness! This goes to show that durable fabric is the way to go!

We only share companies we truly love and believe in and Jonathan Louis is that and more. I'm honored to have not one, but four of their pieces in our home now. I will be a returning customer for good now!

Sarah Hollingshead3 Comments

Welcome to our farmhouse!! We are so happy you are here to hang with us on our front porch! We partnered up with four other bloggers to host a blogger's progressive dinner again, this time for Christmas! Five bloggers, five homes, five courses! The menu is incredible and I couldn't ask for a better group to be hosting with. So let's take a look at the menu...

Appetizer-Our Vintage Farmhouse Soup-Dear Lillie Entrée-Kelley Nan Dessert-Randi Garrett Design After Dinner Drinks-Driven by Decor

You are in a major treat because we're serving our favorite Garlic Parmesan Skillet Bread! First of all, you can't just have one so don't you worry, we made extra!  This is honestly the easiest recipe I have ever made! It is so delicious and the perfect starter for all the amazing food ahead. The cheese and Italian herbs pair perfectly with this yummy bread! You just pull it off by hand. It's the perfect finger food!   Ok so let's talk ingredients!! Ingredients:   3 tablespoons of butter 1 can of flaky biscuits, Grands Junior 2 garlic cloves minced, or pressed or sprinkle garlic powder as needed 1/4 grated Parmesan Cheese 2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning     You will need an 8 inch Skillet!   * Preheat your oven at 350*   Crank up Christmas tunes!  Melt your butter in a sauce pan, add Italian herbs and garlic. Stir gently. Cut biscuits into quarters and add into buttered Skillet. Pour all toppings from the sauce pan on top.  Place the entire Skillet into the oven for 15-20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes and then let the party begin!!!  Y'all I tried not cutting the biscuits in half for the other large iorn pot and did the rest of the recipe the same and it was equally amazing. If you want to add even more kick, you can add the mixture on the bottom and then pour another mixture of herbs, butter etc and pour on top! It is so good either way!!

It really is so peaceful out here. You can just hear a light breeze flowing through tonight. Living out in the Tennessee country has some major perks and peace & quiet is one of them.  Christmas is one of our all time favorite holidays! My daughter and I love singing carols and dancing to our favorite Christmas jams. Once you all arrive and get settled, you're sure to hear some beautiful Christmas music in the background.

Clean & Happy // Our Vintage Farmhouse

As a parent we worry about our children’s safety. I know when I brought Harper home from the hospital and looked into those big blue eyes, I didn’t know what I was doing. I was so in love and petrified at the same time. There were so many how to mom books and baby books out there. I was completely overwhelmed. Being a parent is the most rewarding and scariest thing at the same time! You have this gorgeous child you get to raise and you want to do the best job possible. Clean & Happy is a new application and website geared towards providing information and solid advice for parents and caregivers! I wish they had this app when I first became a Mama. It is so helpful. Hello lifesaver!! Lol! Okay so the app is tailored toward parents that are passionate about making decisions in keeping their families safe, clean and happy. Their primary goal is for this community to make safe, clean, happy homes, so that we can have time for the most important things, like quality family time. The best part is you can stay connected with other parents to navigate through the stages of life. I am all for some parent talk! I love that they are believers in making parenting young children less isolating and confusing, especially for first time parents!

How it works:

You can log on online at CleanandHappy.com or download the app (available on iPhone and Android devices) and participate in the conversation board, sharing thoughts and experiences on parenting and home safety topics. Creating an account is simple and free and can be done so by visiting www.cleanandhappy.com

Honestly, I love the extra help, especially being a single mother. I have already been using it and find everything so helpful. My Mom will thank me because she will be getting a lot less calls!! Haha!!

Thank you for coming by today! Let me know what you think about the app. We believe home safety is so important, all while being a parent and raising your children on solid positive values.

XOXO,

Sarah

We are in the Christmas spirit over here at the farmhouse! There is no doubt about it. We have one more tree to decorate together and the house will be done! :)

One of my favorite Christmas Traditions is reading the The Night Before Christmas with Harper! My parents used to read it to us and we just loved it. Every year we looked forward to reading it together. I am so happy that I am able to share this sweet tradition with my baby girl. Harper just loves it. We cozy up every night to read and count down the days until Christmas.

Deck The Walls // Living Room // Our Vintage Farmhouse

Sarah Hollingshead2 Comments

Falalalala! It's time to deck the halls y'all! Seriously, these are the first family pictures we have hung on the wall so far!! I know that's crazy considering we have been here since January! It's hard to commit to hanging pictures sometimes. Thanksgiving and Christmas is all about family. I knew we needed some sweet family pictures up, especially for the holidays!!  I was so dang excited when we came across Artifacts Uprising!! Just upload a high resolution photo and then pick out what you want! Next thing you know, it's at your front door.

IMG_0108.JPG
IMG_0107.JPG

The directions are super easy. You measure out where you want it and make sure it's straight, then add the paper example shown and tape it tight. Drill marked holes for the screws! Hold the frame over the holes, add the hardware and screw on the brass coated bolts and you are finished!

We chose the floating frames for our living room! They look so beautiful floating on the walls. They give off a clean modern farmhouse feel! I love the brass coated bolts! I think it really makes the frames pop! These are our favorite pictures taken out in our front yard.

(Framed pictures were photographed by Rich Photography.)   Harper loves pointing at them and saying, look it's us Mommy. It makes her so happy to see her pictures hanging on the wall! They are such a large size too. They really make our living room so cozy. We have had several people over since we got them and just love them. I think the frames make the photographs stand out too. It just makes you appreciate the pictures more with the extra space.

Here Comes Santa Tour // Grandin Road // Our Vintage Farmhouse

Here Comes Santa Tour

Christmas is our absolute favorite time of the year! We love everything about it! Harper and I love to pull out the decorations early and start decorating the rooms one tree at a time. We listen to our favorite Christmas songs and bake cookies and then curl up by the fire! It's the season of giving and sharing it with the ones you love most.

I am so excited to be doing the tour with five amazing bloggers and partnering with Grandin Road! These beautiful candles are battery operated and come with a remote too! I got this gorgeous cascading garland from Grandin Road too! The barn wood christmas trees were purchased a couple years back at a store in Franklin. I got the sign at Between You and Me Signs. The ornaments I got at Hobby Lobby and painted them with chalk paint!

We love cozying up by the tree and this chair is perfect for reading our favorite Christmas stories! It's the Augusto Chair & ottoman and the gorgeous faux fur throw  is from Grandin Road as well! That throw is ridiculously comfy. We use it so much.

Harper helped me decorate the tree. Her favorite part is going back and rearranging everything. She cannot wait for Santa to come! She said she wants some trolls and a soft teddy bear. I can't wait to see her face on Christmas day! She is going to be so excited.

We got this gorgeous bench, tray and faux sheepskin fur rug from Grandin Road too! I found the burlap tree skirt on Etsy a couple years back and love the vintage feel it gives off. This is one of my favorite flocked trees a friend gifted me two years ago and I can't wait to set it up every year!

Here are all the bloggers for the tour:

I am honored to be part of such a fantastic group of bloggers!

We love baking, especially around Christmas time! These sugar cookies are our family recipe past down and they are so amazing! I know you and your family will love them.

Santa's Sugar Cookies

Today we are sharing our favorite homemade sugar cookie recipe that is perfect for Santa. We have passed down this recipe for as long as my family can remember. These sugar cookies are crisp and tasty, guaranteed to melt in your mouth.

Ingredients

Yields eight dozen cookies (about 2 1/2-inches in size)

  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk

Directions

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until well combined. Add eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir into butter and sugar mixture, along with milk. Cover and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. On a floured surface, roll out dough to 1/8-in. thickness. Cut out cookies into desired shapes and place 2 inches apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

Decorate with icing and sprinkles. You could even add a chocolate kiss in the middle while they’re still warm.

I can't wait to show you the rest of the house on our other Christmas tours we are doing. Have an amazing day and thank you for visiting our farmhouse! Merry Christmas and enjoy the rest of the tour!!

XOXO,

Sarah
